I have taught in the Atlanta area for the past 25 years and graduated from Furman University with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have worked in public schools, private schools, and now with homeschool families. Our homeschool journey began in 2006 when I opened my home to 12 students who were looking for an alternative to private schools. Since then I have enjoyed teaching homeschool students classes either at my home, at the Mable House, at Timothy Ministry, and at Metro Academic Studies. I am passionate about teaching and love to make learning fun and interesting. I strive to keep the students' parents well informed with online grade reports and by posting homework to this website. For the 2019 - 2020 academic year I am offering a variety of classes to students in the Metro Atlanta area. Please let me know if you have any questions about the classes - firstname.lastname@example.org

This dynamic class is perfect for sixth grade students. It teaches students the basics and fundamentals of grammar. We also learn and practice how to format a paper in Google Docs or other word-processing program. Additionally, students will learn to write a variety of papers including: a personal narrative, a definition essay, an expository essay, a research paper, and a literary analysis. Each student receives personal feedback on his papers so he can learn and grow as a writer. This course blends well with Literature for the Middle School Student to create a complete language arts block. Students should plan on spending 4 hours a week on homework for this course.

We will read a variety of literature including novels, short stories, and poetry. Students will be taught how to craft a literary analysis or literary response in clear and guided steps. This class pairs beautifully with the Grammar and Composition class for 6th or 7th graders to create a complete language arts block. Students who took this class in 2017 - 2018 can register for this class as it features different curriculum. Students should expect to spend 4 hours a week on homework.
